In an English country garden
22nd April 2016
At Upham it’s not just all about the wonderful things we offer indoors but also our glorious gardens outdoors. For those looking to dine al fresco or just slope off to the country Upham pubs offer a wonderful choice of places to relax in the sun. Here’s just a small selection of the treats on offer.
The Thomas Lord has a vast garden with its own chickens, vegetable and herb garden plus ornamental hedges plus lots of tables and chairs to soak up the sunshine as well as enjoy a cool drink or a delightful plate of food.
The Mill at Gordleton is just outdoor heaven. Our riverside terrace is a fabulous place to eat with the chance to look down on the river, spot Kingfishers and Herons that regularly drop by or just cast your eye over our beautiful gardens. The real treat is to go on our Art Walk as it meanders over bridges that cross the two streams running through the gardens. From small sculptures to works in the trees there is something lovely around every corner. And then of course there’s the dragon and the giant robot.
The Plantation, just 400 yards from the wonderful Branksome Chine beaches at Canford Cliffs near Poole, has had a huge transformation and none more so than in the garden where four tents surround a huge garden with its own bar, pizza oven and grill. Lobsters and prosecco after spending a day on the beach anyone?
The Swan Inn in the delightful village of Chiddingfold has made the most of its garden with a stunning terrace surrounded by the ornate pots and planting that make this one of the loveliest and hidden spots for al fresco pleasure anywhere in Surrey.
